TECHNOLOGY WORK SESSION A

Limited to 50 participants, same offering as Session B; choose only one to attend

Mitch Salerno

In his book, Rewiring Education, John Couch provides a clear call for change, "I believe it's time we stopped trying to repair and replace education and start rewiring it. This means moving with intent away from the old design that is holding us back from being able to effectively meet the needs of our digital natives. It means focusing not on passive education, but on active learning…” The GCSLS Technology Work Session will model an interactive, challenge based example of rewired education. Rather than passively receiving information, participants will work together to solve challenges. Through this immersive experience, you will experience an active, technology driven pedagogy. Participants are encouraged to bring their devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops. In the end, you will be inspired to examine the pedagogy in your school and motivated through experience to rewire the educational process.
