Exploring the Complexity of Racism and Examining Real Solutions School-Wide

Walter Strickland

Race and racism have influenced Christian education in a myriad of ways. Well-intended diversity efforts are prone to oversimplify racism’s effects and sprint toward solutions without understanding its complexity. These initiatives result in misguided diagnoses and partial solutions that breed frustration and a sense of defeat. This workshop explores common layers of racism in Christian schools and explores practical solutions for hiring, pedagogy, student recruitment, and beyond.
